Re: a USB board

a variant of the design on http://microusb.org
My initial idea was to do it with a uC as a gobetween for low level driver
support. Through an amazing coincidence my test design ended up almost
identical to this one:
http://g.fondeville.free.fr/usb_en.html
Except mine doesn't work for some unknown reason. Because of this it gets a
redo from start anyway. This time I was thinking of using an 8051 based uC.
They have a few features I could use.
For now though, I was going to patch something together like the MicroUSB
project atari version combined with some simple extra circuitry not unlike
http://www.a2retrosystems.com/workbench.htm
In all honesty I like the code of the fondeville uC based project better
than the microUSB one for my purposes.
I have already ported the MicroUSB code to C anyway. So we'll just have to
see how it all turns out!
The parts needed really work out quite insignificant. If I'm going to take
up a slot, I want to use as much space for features as possible.
On a side note, I was going to get an oscilloscope for xmas, but I couldn't
resist the allure of a pre-loved Tungsten T3 at a great price. So I'm
semi-abandoning my version of the project for now and trying something a
little different.
A USB mass storage device would be perfect for my ][ with the shot floppies.
I know there's the whole FS issue to deal with on USB mass storage, but
that's not too hard.
One step at a time.

bookmarked :) Thanks for that one!
