Yes... substitute "primary" for "physical" and it makes more sense.

Haven't heard of a hang on device open before.

If you have a way of capturing an image of the card (e.g. Hex Workshop),
I'd love to take a look at it.  The FAT filesystem stuff doesn't do
much -- it's a placeholder so the volume copier has something to
show on a Windows volume -- so I don't know why it'd wander off into
the weeds.
