Hi, I have a gs which has a smoked ADB port.
It works fine except that I can not attach a keyboard (well I can but it will not work)

What would be a systematical way to figure out if I can repair it ?
Or is any issue with the ADB the kiss of death and I can use him for parts now?

First, verify that the ADB socket and its PC board connections are
sound--sometimes it's just a broken connection from flexing.

If that fails, you will probably need to replace the ADB controller
chip--for which the likely source is another (spare?) IIgs board. ;-(

That's not one of the crossover ICs, that a relatively early Mac could
supply as a transplant donor?

I'd be surprised--the IIgs was the *first* implementation of ADB,
and I'd bet that the microcontroller firmware changed quite a bit
by the time ADB showed up in Macs.
