Re: different versions of Mockingboards

You are correct. The SC-01 was the first speech chip used on the
Mockingboard, and was later replaced by the SC-02 (SSI-263).

The SC-01 actually has fewer articulation bugs, in my experience.
The SC-02 was never fully debugged, and generates "pops" when some
phonemes are combined.

The newer of the two Mockingboards has a copyright date of 1985. It
has a model number of SSP2000, Rev D. It has a part number of D20137 B.

They both work fine. Is there any real difference between the two? Is
one better than the other? Does one have more features than the other?
Thanks to anyone who can give me some info on these.

They are functionally identical, with the exception of the speech
chip differences.

The later board could accomodate two SC-02 chips, though very few were
actually configured that way.
