Interesting.

I just thought of an eBay scam....

Create a few eBay IDs and list an ordinary item. Have your fake bidders
bid it up to some ridiculous price. Make it look like the auction ended
legitimately.

Now, perhaps using a different ID again, list a similar item in the hope
that the recent 'frenzy' catches on and people attempt to snag it for a
'bargain' - still several times more than it's worth.

Would it work? Dunno. But that doesn't stop junk mail appearing in my
letterbox, cold-callers ringing me at home, AMEX attempting to hijack me
in the middle of a shopping centre, spammers flooding me with
incomprehensible emails for 'V1A-gra' or integrating 'ad-ware' into
every web-product I briefly use... so who knows?

Regards,
