I've come to the conclusion that this is indeed impossible.  I used the
IIgs version of BT2 to copy the character disk from a 3.5" disk to a
5.25" disk, and BT3 actually recognized it but all it saw was some
garbage characters with weird stats.  I guess the IIgs version stores
the data in a different format.  Odd considering Bill did both games...
