I would not intend the filespace on the Google group to act as a long
term file archive.  Rather it is a means for people to share files with
eachother in a more immediate sense.  For example, a person requests a
disk image, and someone else can throw it up there for them.  It is
more convenient because it is web-based, and it is right there.
Comparing this to your ftp server is comparing Apples to Macs.

I am not going to get into arguments about this.  I saw a new Google
feature, and I set something up on it.  If you want to give it a try,
great.  If not, then no one has a gun to your head.
