AFAIK, it's just a Panasonic 4x SCSI CD-ROM drive in an external case. I have
one (installed in a Sun external CD-ROM case) connected to an Apple DMA SCSI
card, and it works OK. I can even boot from it (see below).

I don't recall if I've tried CD-RWs with it, but CD-Rs work with no problems.
I've put the System 6.0.1 floppy images on an 80-mm CD-R and booted from it.
The neat thing with these disks is that their storage boxes are the same size
as a 3.5" floppy, so you can store them with your floppies. 140 MB (or
whatever size they are) is more than enough for pretty much anything except an
archive CD of some sort.
