Thanks for all the advice, guys, this should really help. I picked up
the monitor earlier this week, and probably won't get to look at it
until Saturday. I'll be sure to discharge it anyway, "just in case." In
the meantime, I've asked on the marketplace newsgroup if anyone had a
monitor for sale, and got quite a few offers, so even if I screw up
fixing the one that's broken, I'll still be able to help this guy. Wish
me luck!
