I've run all those Infocom games (Zork 1-3, Witness, and others) in
80-column mode on an Apple II - however, I did use an interpreter
which ran under Apple CP/M.  Yes, they were indeed all much nicer to
run in 80-column upper/lowercase mode than in 40-column uppercase-only
mode ...... :-)
