The Commodore 1581 writes "bottom" MFM sector adresses on the "top"
side and vice versa, but it's of course a double-sided drive.

Never heard of a drive that used only the top side, but given the
assortment of odd critters created in the ca. 1977-1983 time frame, I'd
not be too surprised if they exist.
