Re: CiderPress, AppleWin, and Wine
Mike,
Thanks for the Cedega suggestion. I went to Transgaming's site and
looked around. I wish they offered a trial version to be sure it works
for me before I buy it. I'm going to play around with Wine some more
trying to use some native windows dlls or maybe even using a real
windows directory instead of the "fake" one. If that don't do it I'll
try Cedega, since it worked for you. But part of the "fun" is trying to
get Wine to run it. :)
Andy,
CiderPress runs, and it seems to work ok on images, but I was getting
some error (I think from Wine - the dialog had a wine glass icon) about
not being able to open the file when I tried to open shrinkit files.
>From looking at the terminal output from Wine, it looked like the error
was happening because of an undefined call in mfc32.dll. I installed a
later mfc32.dll and the error changed to a mesage about a bad CRC or
bad header on every shk or sdk file I tried, and the wine error output
showed errors in ole, commdlg, and richedit. After overriding those
with native dlls, it seemed to break everything, so I gave up for
tonight. I don't think there's a problem with NufxLib because at one
point it worked with disk images. It seems to be something in getting
the file loaded to start with.
I think the next step is to try using a real windows directory in Wine.
I'll let you know if I get it working.
Thanks guys,
Dave
