What do you get if you type C200L at the monitor prompt "*"?
Alternatively C200.C27F to view the first 128 bytes of the ROM.
If the ROM is faulty or the ROM select circuitry is not working then
you would get similar errors.
You could try moving it to slot 1 - you could have a faulty slot 2.

The SSC should work on any slotted Apple II, even a Rev 0 ][.
