My opinion on file recovery utilities has been 8 bit rules, 16 bit
drools, with exception of ProSEL utilities.
Deliverance has just crashed at the last minute so many times for me..
Universe Master never worked properly with regard to this.
Bag of Tricks II and Mr. Fixit/Volume Repair.. Bag of Tricks II will
not recover files completly, but if it repairs the structure well
enough you can run Volume Repair to get back the file sizes/resource
forks.
Also, the noises and what not from the Sider drive may just be the
pressure pad/static pad on the bottom of the motor. If it's
inconsistant and whiny thats probably what it is.
This is the static bleed off pad on the bottom of the spinning motor.
Don't worry about those noises.
If the drive has a physical problem internaly it's not going to stay
consistantly bad, it's just going to get worse and louder.
