The pick up roller seemed soft and spongy. I blew it out and got out the Q-tips and alcohol. There are a few small clicks when it tries to pick up a peace of paper. It wouldn't take a piece even when I held one for it. This one is a goner. Robert
Pop open the panels and have a look around and see if anythings is dangling or not attached.
There is a mechanical test button near the bottom of one side. This will check the paper path mechanisms. Hit that button and let me know what it does.
