The Vulcan is -=mostly=- IDE compatible, but not 100% implemented having 
come from the era when IDE was still a developing standard (back when 
some brands of drives didn't interoperate with one another).

The Vulcan also has a severely limited drive geometry table - hence, why 
you can only get 20, 40 megs out of them - the drive geometry is in the 
card's ROM, and whether you have a standard ROM or a Gold version can 
make the difference on how big a drive it can support.
