That could be a problem, since its lithium cells have a shelf life
of 10-20 years. ;-) And, of course, less if it's been used, since
using it starts its clock and it continues to draw power.
That's the reason that I don't buy used No-Slots unless I know that
they are recent. New ones are available from Dallas Semiconductors
(the original manufacturer, now merged with Maxim), and they have a
generous sample policy.
BTW, it is possible to run a program (like a clock setting program,
but with different controls) to *stop* the clock, putting it into
the ultra-low-power state that they ship in. I thought about
writing one so that I could test a chip and then put it back to
sleep, but never got around to it. ;-)
