In many ways, the Apple ///
prefigured the monomaniacal obsession that Apple contracted with
the introduction of Jobs other "child", the Mac.
Jobs' children :
The apple I would have never been sold if it was not because of Jobs !
The Apple II, whose case look was also (C) Jobs,
then the ///,
then the Macs... etc.
I think that the Apple /// says most clearly, "I can design
a computer, too, and it's *not* like the *other* Steve's."
The Apple II, the ///, the Mac... all had no fan / no noise.
What's Jobs fault, that he didn't want to put a fan inside ?
What about "the /// engineering team" ?
What the hell were they being (well) paid for ?
It was possible to fix the ///s afterwards, still without fans !
How can it be ?
Why was it not well engineered from the beginning ?
(Jobs): "engineers, I want a computer without fans because they make
noise and I don't like it"
(sometime later)
(enginners) : "Jobs, here is you computer, we have engineered it, and it
has no fans, as you wanted"
(Jobs): "ok, thanks, nice job, take your money"
(a few months later)
All the Apple ///s are failing, because of bad engineering !
IT'S JOBS' FAULT. HE DID NOT WANT TO PUT A FAN. END OF THE STORY.
Someday someone will write the history of Apple as the struggle
of an ego with a non-combatant engineer.
Ego or whatever, Apple would have not even existed if it were not
because of Jobs.
