The sumbling block I've run into is that I have a usb-dongle com port
adapter that likes to freeze up completely when I send data from the PC
to the Apple.  I really don't know why either. :-(   So when I added
all the changes for flow control, I wanted to test if I could get
around these lock-ups.  No dice.  I really think it's something wrong
with the manufacturer-provided driver though.

Once I verify the code is working normally against the //c at least I
will put the source up, probably in the next day or two.
