In fact, you can use an arcade monitor directly with the IIgs.. and I'm
thinking of going that way... since arcade monitors are available in
15,17,19 inches and larger (if you're crazy).

The point I was trying to make is not related to the scan frequencies,
but to the number of sample clocks in the 40 microsecond active area
of an Apple video line.
