You haven't said what OS your PC is running. If it is running Linux then
Scotts approach is valid. If your PC is running M$ then Lyricals approach
is valid. Alternatively, you could get a modem for your ][+ and dial into
the Linux box directly.
In the first two situations you are using your ][+ as a terminal into the
PC. From there you are opening up another connection (another "terminal")
into the remote box.
In the third scenario you are opening up a terminal directly to the
remote Linux box with a dial-up connection and a shell account.
