Ah, yes--now I remember you were using a IIgs...  Well, that leaves out
the simple 6551 code, since you have the harder Zilog SCC to deal with.

Still, it isn't too hard to disable its interrupts and just poll the
receive buffer...  Jorge just gave an example of how to do this, and
Forth makes it easy to do *anything*.  ;-)
