Cleaning the heads is probably not a bad idea, though you have to be
careful not to use a cleaning disc with openings on both sides (or
cover the top opening somehow).
You might also want to check the drives are operating at the right
speed. There are utility disks that can do this (I think Yoyoduck is
one). The adjustment screw is on the bottom of the drive.
