I think your instructor might be a bit mistaken on that point. As far
as I know Macs can read any CD format that PCs can.



But Windows XP doesn't do HFS(+) without additional software. So, you've got to be careful when burning CD's in the other direction.

It is generally the responsibility of the minority platform to provide
compatibility interfaces to the majority platform--which the Macintosh
has largely done.
