When trying to diagnose a non-working fan, I managed to kill my
vulcan's power board. After inspecting it, I think it might be
repairable (I think one of the rectifiers grounded out and shorted) but
this is some serious old school technology I could do without. (Unless
someone knows offhand how I could go about diagnosing this one)
I'm really tempted to replace the vulcan power board with a flex atx or
a mini itx power supply and run the //e's 5v and 12v lines off of that.
However, though the output voltages are correct on paper, I don't know
if the tolerances on the actual output are correct (e.g. if the 5v is
really 4.8v will it fry something?) Any ideas on this folks? I'd very
much like to get my //e back on again, preferably with a power supply
that runs cooler.
Thanks folks!
