The source is provided with ADT. I would guess that for it to be interrupt driven the interrupt driver just have to be fast enough to handle each received byte (86.8�s if "8N1"). ADT is polling. 

look at adt.asm in the ADTssc directory in the zip, look for PUTC and GETC.
