So i have an old Microsoft z80 card but had a couple of questions:

1 - Its missing a chip, U2.. According to a picture i saw on line, it appears to be a HD74LS05P. can some one verify this for me by chance?

2 - If i put it in my GS and run 80 col mode, will CP/M also work in 80 col? CP/M in 40 columns sux :)

IIRC, there's a timing problem with the original SoftCard
in a IIgs...

You do RC. Some (not all) traditional SoftCards and clones will work in a IIgs set to 1Mhz. speed. If you want to run CP/M at full clip on a gs, look for a PCPI Applicard (aka MicroPro StarCard).
