 Hi,
To make it a little louder you could remove any spongy foam from the
inside it that helps reduce the noise. This is on the one plastic cover
that is easy to remove to get at the print head. That is the one just
snaps off. Not sure if that would be enough. Rasing the printer higher
off the ground and closer to the ceiling might also help. Taking 2 of
the 4 rubber feet off might also make it louder. But it might want to
walk or the vibration may mess with the printing. Hey these are just
Ideas, not sure how they would play out. Putting it inside of a metal
box with an open top may also help. It would be like putting a sheet
metal duct work around the printer so all of the nosie goes straight
up. But that might make it hard to use. Not sure what program he is
using to print with. But in appleworks it might be possible to write a
patch that the IIgs/ maybe even IIe that would make a sound/steady
tone when it done with the printing. True Type Fonts will give you a
better print out. So does cleaning the print head.
