Greg B. has already answered everyone's questions, but I'll add...

Catakig version 1 (but not v2, currently in development) runs well on 
PowerPC Macs under MacOS 8 and 9.  It can also run on MacOS 7.6 if the 
Appearance Manager is installed.  Still, MacOS 8 or later is recommended.

Both versions are free for non-commercial use.
