Frankly, I think $200 for any Apple II product is insane and way out of
line unless you only want to sell less than 10. The A2 market is
pretty darn limited as it is. The Second Sight sold for $179.95 at a
time where the market was significantly larger... and we all know how
badly that bombed out. (This is before everyone knew how much of a
piece of crap the card really was.).
With the technology available today, there is no reason that designs
can't be simple and cheap. If you want to be greedy and not have
widespread acceptance, then go ahead and jack up the price. Nothing
should be more expensive than $129 in this market if you want to have
widespread sales, and at this pricepoint it better be REALLY good. ie.
(Uther of CFFA.) which both sell well below that. Remember it takes A
LOT to justify paying 2x-4x the price of an entire system for a lone
peripheral.
