I've been using the Google usenet service for the past year for CSA2

I don't need binary or file capabilities, I just want reliable access
to Text newsgroups - particularly comp.*. Any suggestions for
free/cheap newservices/servers that deliver the goods. I really don't
need 20GB/month, I don't even think I need 2GB/month. I'd prefer web
based or telnet, but I'll take a POP/SMTP service if I have to.

Thanks... maybe I'll have the privlage of reading some responses.

I have a shell account on Chebucto Community Net (chebucto.ca) which is
nice because I can telnet in from anywhere and even dial-up with my Apple
IIs... I have a flat-rate long distance package, so the dial-up really
doesn't cost anything. I think the membership was $20 CDN for a year.
It took a little while to get used to PINE, but now I've come to prefer
it over GUI newsreaders.
I've also found it very handy for transferring files to my Apple IIs, so
it's definitely money well-spent.

Pine, that is still around? I remember using that on the Freenets back in the early 80's
