If you're comparing Mac OS X to Windows, I think there are some very solid
technical reasons to go with Mac OS X. A more secure system that's less
vulnerable to viruses, spyware, and other malware should be an easy sell to
anybody.

It's hard to know how much more secure OS X is than Windows XP. To make
a real comparison you'd have to normalize to the number of attempts.

Since Mac OS is a small target, it is attacked *very* much less than
Windows platforms (like Linux).

Surely you're not suggesting that Mac OS doesn't have lots of bugs
that could be exploited if anyone made a serious attempt...

One vulnerability per 100,000 lines of code is *great* code! And
modern OSs have tens of millions of lines of code, therefore at least
hundreds of exploitable flaws.

Objective measures of code security would be nice to have, but are
extremely difficult to come by in the absence of controlled experiments.

This is, of course, different from system defaults that leave some
doors open--which, admittedly, Windows still has (many have been fixed).
