buffered parallel, serial, and/or speech ports.

With speech it is nice to have a buffer, because you can send your
text to the card, it will be buffered.  THe speech chip plays the
the speech, and gets the next data out of the buffer.  so you can send
the card a paragraph to read out load, it will read it, and your apple
II is free to do whatever you want it to.  I use a DoubleTalk card on
my robot, it has a buffer.  You can make him talk, while he is figuring
out his next move in chess.
