Hi all. Can anyone help with a problem I have trying to speed up my ZipGSX
(1.02)?
It won't boot with anything but the stock oscillator ("HCOF-1 32Mhz 2292").
I've put in the 14Mhz 65816, replaced the tag RAM with 12ns 32x8 ICs and the
data RAM with 20ns RAM. It won't boot with a 40Mhz or 48Mhz oscillator. I
tried also with slower data RAM - 70ns 32x8s. No go. With the 12ns/20ns
combo and the original 32Mhz oscillator it runs fine with 64K cache.
I'm starting to think the oscillators are not compatible. I purchased them
from JDR: the model #s are OSC40.0 and OSC48.0. But when I run "HCOF-1"
through the ILSI part # generator
(http://ilsiamerica.com/htm/02-osc-order-guide.htm) it says that an HCOF-1
takes a 1.8v input voltage. I think this board is uses 5 volts--that's TTL,
right?
Any help would be appreciated. I seem to have the right parts but I can't
get past 8Mhz.
Mike
