And I got another thought. Sure, it's a waste of space, but I wonder if it would be possible to take these crunched games, save them as WAV files, burn them onto a CD-R and load them from the tape port on the Apple. xD;

I SAVEd and LOADed stuff quite successfully to/from WAV files with a pair of cables running between the Apple's cassette port and the PC. Just make sure you turn on the +20dB boost for the Microphone input in the PC mixer if your card offers it.

I found that even as MP3 files compressed with "lame --preset standard" the files still work well

Odd couple of the year: Load your Apple II cassette games from an iPod. ;-)

Genius! Do that, send a pic of it to Jobs or Woz, and I'm sure you'd get a reply. Or at least a mention on slashdot or digg. :-)
