The first DuoDisk I got (school surplus) survived being dropped down a
full flight of stairs and landing on a cement floor... had to adjust the
timing on the second drive, but that's it.
As far as the IIe case itself... I've just discovered that it will support
my weight[1] so I doubt any standard peripherals will have
much of an effect on it ;-)

[1] Tested on a platinum IIe with weight spread evenly between lid and
sides... I don't recommend trying this with the lid off!
For the record, I'm a bit over 200 lbs.
