Exactly. This is especially easy on a hires screen with black borders.
Just set some bytes near the bottom to #$80.
I think this is what "Drol" used.

Yeah, good analogy. In my experience, this is a great way to emulate
the Apple ][ as well. The whole system should execute in step with the
video scanner. It's only a problem if you want to run faster (or
different) than the real clock speed.
