sat around and tried to use a database program and a laptop...never did
anything...just me...found that if i have a clipboard with
blank invoice sheet and box of junk by the t.v. and a pencil..i DO actually
make progress on this...something about the laptop (maybe i play
on computer too much) just made it feel more like a pain in the ass to
do...had to concentrated more type etc...with clipboard i can kinda write
etc
w/o as much concentration..of course if i could have gotten one of those
handwriting laptops that would have been prefect for me in this project but
no $$$ for that....anyway..got tired of sitting on the project as a database
just gave up and went old school)
but the important thing is it is gonna get done i actually am making
progress vs the 2yrs before i sat on my hands looking at database programs
and half ass trying....(and truthfully i would have made a printout of the
beast database anyway for ref use) i'm just
doing it backwards..printed matter 1st then hopefully electronic .pdf .the
bad part of my little project is that i can't shoot .pdf's out to those
interested in what i have ie...rom ver of say various xebec cards/ eproms on
various siders/ serial number etc for people looking for eproms/software or
whatever
thus my hope for a 'hopper' dump 100 pages in a combo scanner and viola .pdf
docs made of 100 scans as i walk away from it...i prob will have to
eventually just scan it a page at a time i guess
anyway...maybe after it is all done.... maybe i'd then 1 page at a time put
it into a database...but climbing around my bsmt over rubber maid containers
etc.the clip board itself is a pain...the main point is it gets done somehow
what i also do is i have a i think i could scan it is 28 lines per page
index by number i also do on each item..... along with the invoice sheet
....so worse comes to worse that will prob only be 400 pages or so...i could
scan that index by number into a .pdf file and people could just look thru
that say hey..i have item #334 what eprom details is your unit etc...better
then what i have now
that also would work i guess
whatever gets the job done...but is amazing...like 25 boxes of rubber maid
containers pretty much fit into a large metal cabinet from wall mart...so at
least i'm claiming real estate in my bsmt back....
