Even a little speading may stop the glitching. Normally it is *tough* to pull the cable off the socket (need to use a tool or knife to wedge in between the seperating parts). It sounds way too loose to me, and that will definately lower reliability. Again, go slow as there is risk of damage. If you can get a new cable I might order one and try spreading the pins while waiting for the new cable. AFAIK the cable between card and CPU has been a source of problems for Zip and Transwarp users.Well, I bent the pins somewhat... put it back in and got a nice checkerboard pattern appon turning it on.. I suppose I coulda fliped the monitor on it's back and played chess. So I took it out and did it a little more... this time it started up ok... still can't get sis to search google without crashing after hiting the search button. I dunno if it's a sis/marrenetti problem or an unstable accelerator problem.... but I used to be able to use google with sis.....I just tried loading SIS after writing that and this time it locked as soon as it loaded.-Matt
Well, it's a new day... I got up and turned the IIgs on and got a checkerboard... So I turned it off and then back on again and got a checkerboard that changed in't a bunch of @ symbols and then Apple logos and then this message:
===================================== Transwarp GS Failure (error code= 0001) Follow These steps: 1) Turn off the GS 2) Wait 20 seconds 3) Turn on the GS If this screen re-appears, note the error code and Contact technical supprt at: (214) 241 6069 9am to 12:30pm & 1:35pm to 5pm (CST) Monday Through Friday. =====================================So I like turned it off and then back on again 20 seconds later and it booted. Wouldn't run Sis(when it breaks it makes short beep sound).... I've been running this same software configuration for a while now.
I rebooted and let it sit there... and then it beeped... I think maybe trying to run the screen saver.
I can still get into control panel through [apple]+[control]+[esc]Anyway, if I bent the pins any further than I did I woudln't be able to get it in the socket.
