No, there's no index pulse at all, that's it (I can guarantee it). It's
really not required unless you need to format.

Never too late! ;-) I wanted to know it for sure myself, so I took some
time to look inside the computer. The drive is a "Panasonic JU-455-5
AFS". It was extracted directly from a French Thomson TO16
PC-compatible computer.
