Apple IIgs with ROM 01 has been running for 1 to 3 hours. It can go
wrong while byte by byte in the memory are modified without my authorization
which it is like byte by byte garbage. For example, I have written
AppleSoft BASIC with 200 lines. I typed, "RUN" command about 20 to 30
times. It failed to run after 20 to 30 times. It is like to report,
"SYNTAX ERROR" or it goes to monitor prompt at random time.
Another example, I was on ProDOS 8. I type, "LOAD TEST". ProDOS 8
reports, "FILE NOT FOUND", but it works fine several minutes earlier.
I suspect that Applesoft routines and ProDOS 8 routines may have already
overwritten with byte by byte garbage. The result could be the power
supply's outage less than one second at random time. The power supply can
cause to damage or overwrite sector by sector in error on 3.5 / 5.25 floppy
disk and hard drive. It can corrupt the root directory and/or partition
information. It would require to reformat from the beginning.
My power supply is Vulcan. It has two 2 GB hard drives inside Vulcan
power supply with Turbo IDE card which it was modified by myself. I believe
that two hard drives may have stolen too much power which it causes not to
give enough power to the Apple IIgs' motherboard.
I have found naked 3" X 5" power supply board from any electronic store
which it has same +/-5V and +/-12V. It can replace the half defective power
supply board inside Vulcan unit.
I can't be certain how much maximum AMPs are required to sustain enough
power.
If it does not resolve the problem, I would have to use standard power
supply and put two hard drives externally to the Turbo IDE card. I may be
required to replace thin wire to thick wire inside standard power supply.
Please advise.
