One of the sessions presented at KFest 2005 was the possibility of
establishing an Apple II Hall of Fame to honor those who have
contributed to the computer we love so much.
We quickly found that this is a very large project. I've written a
short summary of what we got done, and copy it here from the A2HOF
mailing list.

The initial Apple II Hall of Fame committee was established at
KFest 2005 with the Founding Members as follows:
Loren Damewood
Tony Diaz
Hans Franke
Howard Katz
Mike Maginnis
Kirk Mitchell
Greg Nelson
Austin Phelps
Erick Wagner
The purpose of the HOF is to honor those who have advanced the Apple II
computer with their contributions.
Suggestions at the KFest session were to consider:
Companies
Usergroups
Online Services
as well as individuals for consideration for induction into the HOF.
We concluded that initially, the HOF would be a website with the hope
that a physical home could be found.
Offers by Loren Damewood, Hans Franke and I believe Tony Diaz
concerning domain names and domain hosting. Austin Phelps offered to
host the mailing list, but I'm going to try Google Groups for this.
We need to keep our discussions organized, so I'm thinking that several
threads should be started with the main topics that we discussed at the
session.
Examples are:
*Criteria for judging inductees
*Categories for inductees(Hardware, software, usergroup, memorial,
professional, community)
*Who suggests inductees? (public, committee)
*Responsibilities for the website
This is hardly an exhaustive list, and I'm sure you folks can think of
more. B-{)
So, shall we get things rolling?
<<<<
If you think you have the time and interest in joining the committee,
drop me a line, and I'll join you up.
We certainly aren't to the point where we can start picking and
choosing folks for induction, but we do have a nice short list of
candidates already.
Any interest?
Take care,
Kirk
