I think Apple's standard utility for this will not recognize the Syquest. Nevertheless, try disabling the internal HD and follow the instructions (for the IIe card) to format the HD, except the HD will now be the SyQuest. I can't remember which utility you would use to format the SyQuest. Anyway, it's another angle to attack things. Hope it helps.
