Re: My SVD with my Apple IIplus

I've had some time to do more test on the SVD and ran across nothing but
great things. First of all, when using it, I never needed to use a real
diskette. Even with my CFFA card, some software required it to be installed
on a diskette. With the SVD, the software thinks it is on a diskette, just
like when used with an emulator. Second, I couldn't believe 13 sector
software worked with it, the DOS writing is so different than 16 sector, but
I loaded up dos 3.3 on the SVD, ran BOOT13 and loaded the .nib of DOS3.2.
Yes, it booted just fine! Making 3.2 copies now is a snap thanks to the SVD.
I still haven't hacked the dongle so that I can create a write protect
images (required with Wizardry boot disk) but I'll do that before too long.
The only reason I would hold off on buying an SVD is the write function
isn't ready yet. When Eric gets that function working it will require a swap
out of the microcontroller PIC used in the SVD and I don't know what Eric's
policy is for that. He is a good guy and isn't doing this for money so I'm
sure he'll work these things out.

Another dificult program to use was Bandits. This cracked program does a
seek of slot 6, drive 1. If it doesn't find its data there, it won't finish
loading. This program works with the SVD if your disk II controller is in
slot6 and drive 0. This would be the case even if you were using the program
on a disk.

More to come...
