All right, a few more things I'd like to comment on - like a graphic
web browser. I seem to recall that mouse text doesn't work very well
with colors, so I doubt a mouse based graphic web browser would use a
mouse very well, unless it weren't in color. Plus, with a graphic
browser, you'd need programming that would convert jpegs and gifs into
hgr on the fly, which would definitely make the package larger. Really,
though, all that's needed for the 8-bits is some way to get online
using current protocols for basically the same funtions we all used to
use on our Apples before the protocols changed. Having irc and usenet
would make it easier to keep in touch, and telnet would let us access
software archives. There's some software available on certain websites,
and a text based browser should be good enough to access those.
Yeah, it'd be nice if we could get our Apple //s running on the
internet as well as a modern PC does, but we have to face it - there
*are* limitations.
