I've typed with Oliver about Contiki. It uses
just about EVERY available byte in RAM when
the web browser is running.

The HGR screen is 8 kilobytes of RAM. As
Contiki is now, this 8k is used for program
space.

Instead of converting Jpegs, etc, into HGR
format within the apple II, would be nice
to put a PC online to convert graphics
for Contiki users..

Contiki encounters "img src" tag in HTML,
gets URL of that image, and send message
to PC converter "convert image (URL) to
HGR and send to me".

I have a PC online that I could setup for
the conversion server. What is needed
is converter program, and a way to
send that program messages over the
net.

Have a graphical browser would be
slow... The apple II has to interpret
all the html, font information, etc,
display to hgr. I think it would be
best to keep it text only, but have
a graphic viewer program. If there
is a graphic on a page you want
to look at, run the viewer.

Oliver is working hard on Contiki, just
getting it to work properly as it is. If
any modifications are made to it, it
is probably going to have to be done
by someone else.
