Hasn't happened to me one single time yet -- and I've had a number of
PC's during the last 20 years! the only one of my old PC's which no
longer works flawlessly is my homebuilt XT clone from 1986: there the
harddisk has failed. But it can still be used as a floppy-only system,
and it started its life that way - the harddisk was added later. It has
an old CGA graphics card, and it shares video monitor with my old Apple
II from 1980.

My 386 från 1988 and my 486 from 1994 still both work flawlessly.
On the 386 I've replaced the CMOS battery a few times, but the 486 still
runs on its original CMOS battery. They're not very useful by today's
standards of course - but they do work!

Could you please cite the source for this information? <g>

I've never bought any M$-Office so far! I use Staroffice/Openoffice
instead whenever I'm forced to deal with M$-Word files....

FYI: Macs are more expensive than PC's --- now who is paying the
most for their belief system, really?
