I started with ML. No labels, never got beyond about 50
bytes of code. Use assembler! It will make your programming
experience much more enjoyable and productive.

or, if you refuse, you can use ! command from * prompt.
This puts you in the "mini assembler". You can type
LDA, STA etc instead of hex codes. It will also compute
branch instructions for you, so you don't have to manually
calculate how many steps forward/back you want to branch.

Hi Rich,

Whats a good assembler to use, with decent documentation?

I have a book for the DOS 3.3 Merlin Assembler, but I've
never found the disk image for it, or really looked for that
matter.

Heh, calculating Relative Branches is such a PITA to be
honest, the way I do it is guesswork, and adjust accordingly
to make it point where it should!

It things like that that make people frustrated with assembly
language... ;-)

Merlin 8 for ProDOS is a great package, IMHO, and does (almost)
everything (almost) flawlessly. It and its documentation are
pretty readily available on the web, but I don't have a URL handy.
