If the machine is in your home, then yes it would have to qualify. But
if you are using a special purpose device, like that Lantronix gizmo,
there is no cutoff (it is regarded as a peripheral).
That said, we are only counting the number of days you participate. So
if you go online for two days out of three and use your Apple II on the
remaining days, you can still earn as many points as someone using a
68030 based Amiga or Mac. Of course if you go online with a IIgs for
two days out of three and use a IIe on the other day, you could earn
about 2.3 times as many points. So there are some advantages to using
older computers.
That said, I thought somebody was planning to port uIP to the 8-bit
Apples?
