A well-meaning friend gave me a copy of the O'Reilly "Apple 1 Replica
Creation" book because he heard I wanted to build a McIntosh clone.
The problem was-the McIntosh I wanted to clone has vacuum tubes-the MC
275 audio power amplifier. A little different proposition.
Since he bought the book I did look at it. I remember from "back in
the day" people built Apple II clones and the tough part was getting
the ROM. I notice this book doesn't have any thing on the subject-the
builder isn't expected to write the firmware, I presume?? In fact the
burning of ROMs isn't even touched on, nor the importance of the
firmware.
Does Apple allow Apple 1 firmware to be circulated, and if so, why
isn't it in the book (i.e. on CD)?
